Declutter Your Home by Getting Rids of These Common Household Items

At Handler Homes, we believe that you should not have to settle when buying your family home. We offer our clients the best of both worlds by offering a variety of starting floorplans to choose from along with a satisfying selection of customizations.

For many families, storage space is a big priority, something that our homes are built with plenty of. Even still, as you live in one place for years, things inevitably pile up. If you are itching to clear away some clutter in your home but don’t know where to start, we have a few suggestions.

Boxes

Keeping some moving boxes around is never a bad idea, but not all boxes serve a long-term purpose. For example, when we get a new appliance or computer, many of us are inclined to keep the product box just in case we need to return it. But if all goes well, you may forget to ditch the boxes like you intended and so they sit building clutter and collecting dust. Why not go through all your product boxes, retrieve the owner’s manuals and cables, and then dispose of the boxes to free up some space.

Cookbooks

Most households have a collection of cookbooks. But cookbooks can take up a lot of space that you could otherwise use. Understandably, if a cookbook is a family heirloom, you will want to keep it around. But if there are ones that you have not cracked open in a while and that do not hold sentimental value, why not donate them? Afterall, with the overwhelming amount of recipes available on the internet, most people just hop on Google to find what they are looking for. If there are one or two recipes that you go back to in a certain cookbook, you can scan those and store them on your computer for easy access. That way you can still find your favorite recipes and clear valuable space at the same time.

Cords and Electronics

Smart phones, computers, and other devices are an integral part of modern life. But those devices all come with cords and accessories, and old electronics get worn out and replaced. All this means that you have probably ended up with quite the collection of cords and old electronics. Why not take some time to sort through your old junk drawer and weed out extra or broken cables and devices that you have no use for? Then you can donate any superfluous items or dispose of them properly.

If you start your decluttering quest with these items, you will be surprised by the amount of real estate it can clear up! Browser our blog page for even more articles to help you or inspire you.
