Tips That Will Keep Your Home Clutter Free
Your home should be your haven. It should be a place where you can put the stresses of the day behind and relax. When our houses are cluttered, however, it can make it hard to relax. Studies have shown, afterall, that clutter does in fact increase stress levels. If your house is cluttered, what can you do about it? Here are some tips that will help you declutter your home and keep it that way.
How to Keep Your Home Clutter Free
Make Sure Everything Has a Place
When things do not have a designated place, they tend to wind up just about anywhere, and that leads to visual clutter. To make sure that your home does not fall victim to this common pitfall, make sure that everything has a home. Clear organizing bins, baskets that can be stored neatly in closets, organization tools like these can help you accomplish this. Once everything has a designated space, make sure that family members know what goes where so that they can put things where they belong accordingly.
Opt for a One In, One Out Rule
Many times clutter builds up because there is an excess of items and not enough uses for those items. When items don’t get used, they sit around and pile up and ultimately create clutter. Don’t make this a trend in your home. Instead, introduce a one-in, one-out rule. If you bring something new into your home, say a mug, you have to donate a mug to make room for it. This will make sure that you never accumulate more things than you have a use for.
Keep a Donation Bin
If you maintain a one in, one out rule and you declutter your home often, you will be donating a lot. So have a designated space allotted to items to be donated. This ties into our first tip, making sure that everything has a place. This will give you a spot where family members can add their to-donate items as well without things getting left out to deal with later, which can cause your eyes to become overwhelmed. Then every few months, just take a trip to your local donation center.
