How to Protect Your Carpet From Winter Salt
Your home is a place where you can relax and get away from the world for a moment. It’s where laughter and love reside. However, this haven isn’t what it is without work. Creating that environment takes a lot of work because it isn’t just about setting your home up the way that you want it but maintaining a clean and organized environment. We all hate home chores, but they are necessary because of the added feel and environment they bring into your home. Winter poses several different challenges with regards to your home. The one that we want to consider today though is regarding your carpet and winter salt. Handler Homes has vast knowledge of carpet from years of working with it. Its our experience that makes us stand out as different. Which is why we know how to prevent many stains from happening.
There are a couple of different challenges that each home faces. If you have just salt on your carpet, then you’re looking at a simple problem of just your carpet not being able to dry quickly because the salt pulls the moisture from the air. This is the same with regards to calcium chloride or otherwise known as ice melt. With ice melt though you have an oily residue on your carpet. There is a bigger problem that you must worry about when it comes to salt on your carpet. One of them you may stare at every time you walk into the home. Salt and water from the snow can cause your carpet to have a white stain on it. This can easily lead to permanent damage to your carpet. So, what can be done?
The first line of defense is vacuuming. This can help prevent any soiling on your carpeting. The key is that you must vacuum as regularly as possible. Once or twice a week is the minimum that you should perform this maintenance on your home. Additionally, you need to also consider carpet cleaning especially when you have stains starting to form. A wise investment to put your money into would be a couple of rugs. It is said that the first 10 feet of the home is where your shoes tend to dump most of the salt and ice melt into your home causing all the damage. If you keep a rubber mat at the front of the door for you to wipe your shoes and then once in the home remove your shoes, you will be able to prevent a lot of the damage that we talked about.
Taking preventative measures to make sure that your home stays beautiful is of great importance. However, the implications of a well cleaned home far surpass beauty and lends itself to a great environment for you and your family to grow and thrive in. Handler Homes wants to help make sure your home stays in the best condition possible.
