Renovations to Complete Before Your Baby Arrives

Some home remodeling tasks may be put on hold while a baby is on the way. However, in other circumstances, several house improvements must be completed before the baby comes. Whether for convenience, loudness, or general baby health and safety, complete the following projects before your newborn arrives.

Prepping The Bedroom or Nursery

Babies are commonly placed in a bassinet in their parent's bedroom for the first months of their lives to ensure healthy sleep, but that doesn't mean you can put off bedroom or nursery renovations. Patching and painting walls, assembling furniture, hanging trim, and other first- time-parent remodeling activities may be noisy and dusty, which is unhealthy for a baby. Furthermore, postponing the project implies postponing organization, which is vital in newborn management.

Bathroom Remodeling

Bathroom renovations are noisy, time-consuming, and fraught with mishaps. And, in houses with only one bathroom, babies can't wait for the renovation to be finished so they can have a bath. Although infants are often bathed in modest, baby-friendly tubs, loading, and draining them in your kitchen sink isn't a pleasant experience.

Make Your Pet Their Place

Some family pets are so smitten with newborns that they rarely leave them alone. With dogs around, it's difficult for newborns to sleep with the barking and moist noses. Kitchen Repairs

Installing safety locks to kitchen appliances and cabinets only protects the infant if the appliances and cabinets themselves are in excellent operating order. Even though a newborn won't be moving for several months, address damaged cabinet doors, rusted hinges, and other child safety risks before the baby comes.

Upgrade Appliances

Don't put off upgrading your old appliances until after the baby arrives. Babies go through a lot of garments during the day from their messes. Washing infant bottles by hand quickly becomes tedious. If a dishwasher, dryer, or washer breaks down when new parents are sleep-deprived, panic may develop. Ensure you handle this project before it's too late.

Stain and Paint Projects​

Ensure you finish any staining or painting work before the baby arrives. Even low-VOC stains and paints have the potential to cause respiratory problems in a baby (or an expectant mother). Expectant moms who wish to participate in the painting procedure should wear masks and ensure that the room has adequate ventilation.

Mold Remediation

Mold may develop in kitchens, bathrooms, and basements, and postponing this project until after the baby comes is a terrible idea. Spores can induce allergic responses and respiratory problems, especially in infants with delicate systems. Remember that the same applies to pregnant women; therefore, staying in a hotel during the remediation is generally best.
